Ecstasy / MDMA Abuse Treatment at the Manchester Hypnotherapy Clinic

ecstasy abuse treatment

Ecstasy (3,4 Methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine), sometimes also known as 'MDMA' or 'pills' is a commonly used drug in the dance scene. In its pure form it creates many effects, most which are highly positive. MDMA usually produces the effect of an overwhelming sense of openness making it very easy to talk about personal problems and a high degree of empathy (a heightened sense of ones own feelings and of those also within the experience).

Dangers with ecstasy use are generally due to the body overheating coupled with the body dehydrating. This seldom happens globally but there is still a risk when this happens in a hot 'club' environment, particularly when coupled with alcohol (which further dehydrates the body).

MDMA gives the user a high sense of energy, allowing for example, dancing the night away well beyond normal physical tollerance - and this masking of 'real' levels of energy can further put users at risk of dehydration. Further risk may occur be people over-hydrating the body because of thirst whilst on ecstasy, this can be as damaging as dehydration.

That said, occasional recreational use of moderate doses is not said to cause any major risks or long lasting harm. This is a highly debated subject, and some studies suggest that long term use at high doses may result in depression due to the depletion of serotonin in the body.

If you feel you have a problem and need help with MDMA (or indeed any of its analogues such as MDA), please contact me for a free and confidential consultation so that I may understand your needs further and I will explain how I may be able to help you.
